Sunshine Skyline
From the Desk of Sashay's Lady in Waiting...
Oh the weather outside is frightful, so here's something delightful!
We hope you like this week's bit of inspiration - "Sunshine Skyline"
Grey & yellow is a fun, youthful color scheme. Keep it up with a short reception dress and an equally fantastic venue. If you're in a big city, show it off with a rooftop bar or high level skyscraper with panoramic views of the city's skyline!
Until next time,
Marisa Negri

Violet & Cream Storyboard
From the Desk of Sashay's Lady in Waiting...
Remember one of my first blogs about creating canvased storyboards? As much as I love arts and crafts (that's not sarcastic at all...I'm literally obsessed with arts and crafts!), I've decided to go digital. My obsession with Pinterest (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to www.pinterest.com - I apologize in advance for decreasing your productivity) has gotten me thinking about creating online storyboards that I can share with the world. Mission: Everyone in the Inspiration Nation needs to see these storyboards! Grassroots, baby. We'll be sharing them here on The Sashay Strut and on Pinterest, Facebook, & Twitter.
From here on out, Sashay is giving the gift of event inspiration! We will post a new storyboard every week. Some may be centered around a particular color palette, some a broader theme, and most of them will probably be centered around a fabulous pair of shoes. We love shoes. Did the name give it away? ;)
The storyboard I created this week to start off "Mission: Inspiration Nation" is centered around a violet & cream color palette. Think chic farm picnic. Do hope you enjoy!
All of these pretty photos came from weddings we designed & coordinated this fall. Our Labor of Love Photography provided many of the photos - a few were provided by my handy dandy iPhone. & a big thanks to Serenbe Farms...for being so damn gorgeous!
Happy Pinning! :P
XOXO,
Marisa Negri

New Kid on the Block
From the Desk of Sashay's Lady in Waiting...
There's a new kid on the block and his name is Vinewood. Located on a historic property dating back to the 1850's, Vinewood offers an Antebellum home with lush gardens and Stables on 30 acres that can accomodate events for up to 200 guests. Vinewood is the perfect enchanted setting for weddings and elegant receptions.
The International Special Events Society hosted their latest shindig at three venues south of Atlanta in Newnan, Georgia. We had champagne and hors d'oeuvres at Serenbe, headed over to Dunaway Gardens for supper, then finished off the night at Vinewood. We drove up to a darling white wood home and walked through to the back, admiring the victorian style furniture along the way. There is a nice pool and small garden within the confines of a white picket fence, perfect for cocktail hour. And the stable...oh, the stable! It's certainly fit for more than a horse! Words honestly can't describe, so we hope you'll enjoy these photos from Vinewood, courtesy of Ben Vigil Photographers!
Remember when Jim Carrey laso's the moon and brings it in closer for a romantic night with his wife in "Bruce Almighty"? Well, that's just what happened at Vinewood. A faux moon was hung between two trees to create a stunning scene.
A big thanks to Jackson Durham for spectacular event design and Ben Vigil for capturing beautiful photos!
As always,
Marisa

Sashay Has Been Featured!
From the desk of Sashay's Lady in Waiting...
Sashay Creative Events has been featured on Forget Me Knot Weddings!
The first event I ever helped to coordinate as an intern was the wedding of Colleen & Phil, our traveling philanthropists from Chicago. This fantastic duo enjoyed an extravagantly unique wedding, celebrating their love for Africa by incorporating fabrics, musical instruments, and stories from their journeys throughout the country into the decor and ambiance of their big day.

The mission of Heifer International is to work with communities to end end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. With gifts of livestock and training, they help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways. Heifer refers to the animals as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need. Colleen & Phil's wedding gifts were donations from guests to the Heifer International cause.
Venue: King Plow
New twist on the traditional bridal party: Colleen's "Maid of Honor" was her brother and Phil's "Best Man" was his sister ;P
The couple made "Unity Guac" (that's right - guacamole) during the ceremony. During one of their trips to Africa, the couple had a serious craving for some guacamole. They had to travel to several different towns to gather all of the ingredients. Here, the ingredients symbolize all of the pieces that make them whole - holistic and perfect for each other. Guests were encouraged to try the guacamole after the ceremony during cocktail hour to be a part of the unity ritual.
African tapestries were used as cocktail hour high boy table cloths, as background drapery for the photo booth, & as decor for reception table arrangements.
Sharon of Sweet Sensations baked this phenomenal cake! The texture resembles the layering design of Colleen's bridal gown and the blue, green, and orange patter matches one of the African fabrics. And it tasted damn good too!

Caitlin & Jackson's Serenbe Wedding on the 1st Day of Fall
The word from Sashay's Lady in Waiting...
Caitlin & Jackson are a beautiful couple, inside and out. Their bubbly spirits fill the room...and their homemade brews filled the bar at their Serenbe farm wedding held on the first day of fall. There were so many unique details, from the mix-match china plates to the vintage photos of family members' past weddings. It may have been the first day of fall, but it sure felt like summer on the farm. The sun was beaming, the grass was green, and the animals were wandering about beautiful Serenbe, located in the heart of Palmetto, Georgia. We hope you enjoy these photos from their big day!
*A big thanks to David & Kendrick of Our Labor of Love for capturing such amazing photos!
Cheers!
